Reps Approve Tinubu’s State Of Emergency Rule In Rivers State

The House of Representatives has passed and adopted the proclamation of President Bola Tinubu through a voice vote with 243 members in attendance.

The lawmakers also made recommendations to the proclamation.

The House recommended that a national committee should be set up to mitigate and restore peace back to Rivers State.

After the session, Akpabio put the matter to a voice vote, with lawmakers overwhelmingly supporting the request.

Announcing the decision, Akpabio said the senate had exercised its powers under section 305(2) of the constitution to approve the president’s proclamation.

He said:

“It is our hope that this declaration by the president will bring peace and resolve all the impasse in Rivers state.”
